👨🦯 Braille na bijna 185 jaar nog steeds brandend actueel 👨🦯 Op 4 januari trekt Manneken Pis zijn uniform van blinde schooljongen aan ter gelegenheid van Wereldbrailledag. Zijn blindengeleidehond, een essentiële partner voor zijn mobiliteit, houdt hem de hele dag gezelschap. De Brailleliga wilt van deze dag gebruik maken om het belang van braille in de verf te zetten, daarom maakte de vzw een video die je hier kan bekijken. 👨🦯 Braille is een schrijfsysteem van zes punten in reliëf uitgevonden door Louis Braille in 1837. Het universeel systeem is uniek en ongeëvenaard en biedt blinde en slechtziende personen de mogelijkheid zich open te stellen voor de wereld. Draai of keer het zoals je wilt, braille is en blijft het enige schrijfsysteem voor blinde personen. 👨🦯 Ondanks de steeds verder gaande digitalisering blijft Braille niet alleen een nuttig hulpmiddel, sterker nog het is essentieel op school, op het werk, om de spelling van een taal te kennen, een woordbeeld te kunnen vormen, toegang te hebben tot informatie en bij uitbereiding dus voor de zelfstandigheid van blinde en slechtziende personen. Vandaag nog meer dan vroeger biedt Braille een betere inclusie in het dagelijkse leven. Braille past zich namelijk aan aan alle nieuwe technologieën, denk maar aan een brailleleesregel of het brailletoetsenbord op de iPhone. 👨🦯 Ook Manneken Pis is dit jaar van de partij! Manneken Pis trekt ook dit jaar zijn uniform van een blinde schooljongen aan.
